LRVI FC stays undefeated after close win in Week 6 of USVISF's Premier League matches

St. Thomas side LRVI Football Club remained undefeated and atop the St. Thomas Division standings after pulling out a close win over Massey Football Club on Sunday in one of four matches played in Week 6 of the U.S. Virgin Islands Soccer Federation’s men’s and women’s Premier Leagues.


LRVI FC (5-0-0, 15 points) bested Massey FC (2-0-3, six points) in one of two St. Thomas Division matches played at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School field. The other match saw United We Stand Sports Club (1-0-3, three points) winning its first match of the season, 2-1 over Raymix Football Club (1-0-4, three points).


On St. Croix, Unique Tropical Sports Club (2-0-4, six points) shut out winless Prankton Soccer Club (0-0-6) 3-0 at the Bethlehem Soccer Complex.


In the lone Women’s Premier League match Sunday, LRVI FC Castaways Grey (3-0-0, nine points) remained undefeated after beating LRVI FC Castaways Green (0-0-3) 10-3 at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High field.

Premier League


LRVI Football Club 3, Massey Football Club 2: Naquan Henry had a pair of early goals as LRVI FC took an early lead, only to have to hold off Massey FC’s late challenge and remain undefeated in the St. Thomas Division.


LRVI FC scored all three of its goals over a nine-minute span early in the first half, with Henry sandwiching his goals in the third and 11th minutes around an Axel Bartsch score in the ninth minute.


However, Massey FC broke the shutout later in the first half, with Kandem Benjamin scoring in the 30th minute to pull within 3-1 at the half. Brad Robinson then cut LRVI FC’s lead to 3-2 with his goal in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.


United We Stand Sports Club 2, Raymix Football Club 1: J. Zion Smith scored twice as United We Stand SC held off Raymix FC’s second-half rally to win its first match of the season.


Smith scored in the 24th and 44th minutes of the first half as United We Stand SC jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead.


However, Raymix FC ended the shutout when Senal Kenson scored in the 54th minute.


Unique Tropical Sports Club 3, Prankton Soccer Club 0: Dante Nicholas scored twice as Unique Tropical SC shut out Prankton SC for its second win of the 2024 season.


Alexi Bedford had put Unique Tropical SC in the lead with his goal in the 23rd minute. Nicholas then scored in the 38th minute for a 2-0 halftime margin and added an insurance goal in the 78th minute.


Women’s Premier League


LRVI FC Castaways Grey 10, LRVI FC Castaways Green 3: Patrice Clarke scored four times and five other players had goals as LRVI FC Castaways Grey remained undefeated in the St. Thomas Division.


Clarke scored in the sixth, seventh, 12th and 29th minutes to get the hat trick for Castaways Grey.


Lindsay Chapman added two goals (in the eighth and 13th minutes), and four others — Katy Turner (first minute), Anna Scott (44th minute), Ashley Moreau (47th minute) and Riley Oram (59th minute) — added one goal each.


Castaways Green broke the shutout in the 39th minute on Zia Gibbs’ goal, with Madison Roy (40th minute) and Tori Matheis (42nd minute) also scoring.


Coming this week


A full slate of men’s Premier League matches — two on St. Croix, the others on St. Thomas — will be held this weekend, as will a pair of Women’s Premier League matches among St. Croix Division teams.


On St. Croix, the division’s two undefeated teams — Rovers Soccer Club and five-time league champ Helenites Sports Club, both 4-0-0 (12 points) — face off twice, at 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Bethlehem Soccer Complex.


Meanwhile, on St. Thomas at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High field, division leader LRVI FC plays United We Stand SC at 4 p.m., followed by defending Premier League champ New Vibes Soccer Club (3-0-2, nine points) taking on Massey FC at 7:30 p.m.

In Women’s Premier League play, undefeated Lady Rovers Soccer Club (4-0-0, 12 points) takes on St. Croix Kestrels (0-1-3, one point), and Prankton SC/340 Women’s Soccer faces Championship Athletic Performance Academy (1-1-3, four points).

Both matches start at 3 p.m. at the Bethlehem Soccer Complex.
