U17 WOMEN COMPETE AT CONCACAF CHAMPIONSHIP
The US Virgin Islands Soccer Association (USVISA) young Lady Dashing Eagles are competing at the group stage of the CONCACAF Women’s Under 17 Championship at the IMG Academy in Bradenton Florida from October 20 to November 01, 2021. Our young ladies opened match day one on Wednesday with a 4-1 loss to St. Kitts and Nevis. The USVI’s goal was an own goal by St. Kitts and Nevis’ Malaika Rouse in the 57th minute.
Following the withdrawal of a number of teams due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, which resulted in an uneven number of teams per group, Concacaf made the decision to reformat the tournament’s group stage to two groups of three teams and one group of four teams. The groups are as follows:
Group A: Saint Kitts and Nevis, US Virgin Islands and Suriname
Group B: Barbados, Curaçao and Belize
Group C: Honduras, Anguilla, Guyana and Turks and Caicos Islands
At the end of group stage play, the winner of each group and the best ranked second place finisher will advance to the 2022 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship (CWU17).
USVI is back on the pitch against Suriname on Sunday October 24, 2021, at 11:00AM. View the match live at the Concacaf Facebook or YouTube page.
